A first ascent is the first time a climbing route is successfully executed. It entails genuine exploration, with greater risks, challenges, and recognition than climbing a route pioneered by others.
A first ascent is about breaking new ground and forging your own path, just like what we do for our clients every day. AGENCY LAUNCH
Late 2014, John and Pauline accidentally meet a number of Delaware entrepreneurs and freelancers. They joke that “we might want to start a business someday.” A new friend leans forward and asks, “What’s wrong today?”
They register First Ascent Design LLC on Jan 21st, 2025 and the story truly begins.
2015-2016
THE COIN LOFT
Delaware’s first coworking space. First Ascent Design becomes a member company, calling the CoIN Loft home.
2016-2018
THE MILL
First Ascent joins The Mill, a community of startups and businesses in Downtown Wilmington. The business grows from exposure to the Delaware community. The team grows to include our first hires.
2019-2021
FIRST OFFICE-
1216 NORTH KING ST.
First Ascent breaks away from coworking spaces to plant our first flag in Wilmington. The team grows to 8 people.
Covid-19 hits, the world adjusts, and digital marketing becomes absolutely necessary. First Ascent enters a period of rapid grow.
2021-2022
1007 NORTH
ORANGE ST.
First Ascent moves in with a friend and fellow Delaware business, Bowstring Media. We grow to a team of 18.
2023-2025
605 NORTH
MARKET ST.
First Ascent returns home to the space that was previously the CoIN Loft. Previously only able to afford to be a community member with no permanent desk, First Ascent occupies the entire space. The team grows to 25 people.
2025
10 YEARS IN BUSINESS
First Ascent is honored by the City of Wilmington for 10 years of business in the city and supporting local businesses.
2026+

MARKET ST.
Home, sweet home! First Ascent officially plants a permanent flag in Wilmington, Delaware with the purchase of a headquarters building right in downtown.
